KARACHI: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Dr Syed Kaleem Imam appreciated the police performance to recover an 18-month-old boy safely from the captivity of the kidnappers, who had taken him away from Karachi’s Jehangir Park in Saddar on Sunday.
District South SSP Sheraz Nazeer confirmed the safe recovery of the child and said that the police had apprehended two suspects, including a woman and her male accomplice.
It is pertinent to mention here District South on Tuesday claimed to have recovered an 18-month-old boy safely from the captivity of the kidnappers during a raid in Kala Pul. The arrested suspects were identified as Rukhsana and Shahid.
District South SSP Sheraz Nazeer said the reason behind the kidnapping of the boy was yet to be ascertained as the investigations were in the preliminary stage.
The boy and his father were in the park on Sunday when the child was kidnapped within the limits of the Preedy police station. The parents filed an FIR against suspects at the Preedy police station on Monday.
The child’s father, Amir, a resident of Ranchore Line said the police in his recorded statement that he did not have any personal enmity or monetary dispute with anyone.
The FIR stated that he and his one-and-a-half-year-old son were at the park on Sunday when the toddler suddenly went missing. The father searched for the boy in the entire park and the surroundings but could not find him.
Then he approached the park’s management for the CCTV camera footage. He said that when he saw the footage, he found three a man, a burqa-clad woman and a boy taking his son with them.
