ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has initiated a crackdown against the trading of illegal cigarettes across the country.
FBR in its notice has asked retailers, cigarette making industries, wholesalers and shopkeepers to stop the illegal trade across the country.
The notice further stated it is mandatory to give a picture prescribed by the government and write a written health warning on every packet of the cigarettes.
According to the Finance Act 2019, the minimum price of cigarettes has been set Rs 63. The violators would be fined Rs. 20,000 whereas those involved in the selling of illegal cigarettes would be imposed with a fine of 1000 and would face imprisonment of 5 years.
it said that the FBR officials have authorities to confiscated vehicles used for transporting cigarettes.
