NEW DELHI: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Singh’s (RSS) hooligans attacked and injured several students and teachers at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in the Indian capital, New Delhi.
According to details, RSS masked armed activists of Wing Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), attacked students and female professors and injuring more than 20 students of Jawaharlal Nehru University.
The source said there was apparently no reason for the attack, but the JNU student Union blamed it on ABVP, which is an RSS student wing and also has the patronage of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party.
According to the University administration, armed masked miscreants continued to stare at the university premises and hostels, but in the meantime, the police had closed their eyes on the thugs’ attack nor arrested them.
Indian media reported that the president of the student union body of the university was also critically injured in the attack, along with other injured admitted at the hospital.
New Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has expressed deep concern over the incident and demanded the Lieutenant Governor of New Delhi to inquire into the incident.
It is to be noted that JNU is considered the stronghold of left-wing student organizations in India and had a great role in protests against India’s controversial citizenship laws.
