WASHINGTON: On Wednesday, US chief diplomat for South Asian affairs Alice Wells said that she was fully inspired by the Pakistani women who are working on the Democratic Republic of Congo’s UN peacekeeping mission.
Taking to the social media US diplomat Alice Wells wrote on Twitter, “Inspired by Pakistani women serving with distinction in the United Nations peacekeeping mission in the DRC. The first Pakistani all-female group of 15 peacekeepers received medals last week for their work performing a range of services to the conflict-affected eastern DRC.”

Earlier in January: The United States Acting Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Alice Wells, called on Foreign Secretary Sohail Mahmood, said a statement by the Foreign Office.
They discussed a range of bilateral issues, including political engagement and economic partnership. During the meeting, it was emphasized that a strong trade and investment relationship was key to advancing the shared vision of the leadership of both countries for the long term, broad-based and enduring partnership.
The foreign secretary highlighted the grave human rights and humanitarian situation in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, intensified ceasefire violations from the Indian side, belligerent rhetoric of the Indian civil and military figures, and India’s aggressive measures along the Line of Control.
