ISLAMABAD: The prices of unpackaged milk and yogurt have been increased by Rs five to Rs 10 various districts of the federal city.
According to details, in NA-54 UC-48 Sangjani, the prices of milk and yogurt have skyrocketed. The shopkeepers are selling milk at Rs. 120 per litre and yogurt at Rs. 130 per kg.
The daily milk consumption especially in summers increases manifold including demand for packaged and unpackaged milk and yogurt. The original prices of unpacked milk are Rs 110 per litre and yogurt Rs 120 per kg.
The people of the said district are forced to buy milk and yogurt at exorbitant prices due to the inattention of government representatives. Almost 90 percent of the residents of the districts are laborers.
The district people have appealed to the Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan and the concerned authorities to take notice of the illegal higher prices of the essential commodity.
On the other hand, the conflict between the milk traders and Karachi administration goes on. Commissioner Karachi had directed the authorities to take action against the milk distributors for selling commodities at higher prices.
However, the retailers unitedly declared that they are going to raise the prices of milk from Rs 120 per kilogram from Saturday.
