ISLAMABAD: People have staged a protest in front of National Press Club Islamabad against two officials of Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) allegedly involved in land grabbing.
According to details, the two accused include District Police Officer Yousuf Lashari and Anti-Corruption Circle Officer Layyah Azhar Sanghi.
The protesters said, “In 2008 we bought three kanals of land in a district of Layyah. The real owner of the land was Haji Sher Ali son of Dilawar Khan. Since then District Police Officer Yousuf Lashari has been pressurizing us to sell the said land to him.”
Protesters further informed that the police officer is threatening them constantly through various means. “Recently, two relatives of Yousuf Lashari, who are also Police constables, uprooted our plants,” they added.
The victims further informed that they had constructed a residence on half of the three kanal land and are living in it for the past 12 years.
According to the victims, at the behest of Yousuf Lashari, his nephew, who was suspended a few days ago, registered a case in the anti-corruption. Anti-corruption officer Azhar Sanghi, who is also a friend of Yousuf Lashari has directed the Assistant Commissioner of the District and the Municipal Committee to demolish their residence.
Protesters said, “People like Yousuf Lashari are defaming our institutions.” The victims have appealed to Chief Minister of Punjab Usman Buzdar to take action against the accused persons.
