KARACHI: The Sindh police authorities on Tuesday decided to form a high-level investigation team to explore the causes of the toxic gas leak in Karachi’s Keamari area in which nine people lost their lives.
According to a police official in central police of Karachi, the inquiry committee will comprise of police officers and officials from other law enforcement agencies to probe the matter in all aspects.
The police official further added the probe team would also contact the families of the deceased and affected people.

Besides the police team also collecting hospital records and statements of the affected doctors as well as they also sleeked help from Karachi University and other departments on the matter.
On Tuesday Jinnah postgraduate medical center has released a data of 33 patients affected by toxic gas, admitted at the hospital within the last two days.

Due to the situation, Karachi administration had deployed heavy contingents of law enforcement agencies including Rangers on the entrance and exit routes of the affected areas. Rescue and security teams have also distributed face masks among the citizens.
Commissioner Karachi told media that a cargo vessel had transported some goods to Karachi Port Trust (KPT) from where the gas leakage spotted after inspection.
