Former Pakistan captain and top-order batter Babar Azam has become the first Asian cricketer to score 3,000 runs in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC).
The right-handed batter achieved this milestone on the first day of the first Test against South Africa. Babar has now scored 3,021 runs in 37 WTC matches at an average of 47.95.
Among Asian players, Indian captain Shubman Gill is next on the list, having scored 2,826 runs in 39 matches.
Overall, Babar Azam ranks 8th in terms of total runs scored in the World Test Championship. The top spot is held by former England captain Joe Root, who has amassed 6,080 runs in 69 matches.

Steve Smith of Australia is in second place, followed by Marnus Labuschagne in third, and current England captain Ben Stokes in fourth. Travis Head, Usman Khawaja, and Zak Crawley occupy the fifth, sixth, and seventh spots, respectively.
