KARACHI: Police claimed to have arrested at least 315 people on the first day of lockdown in Karachi today (Monday).
According to Additional Inspector General of Karachi, at least 315 people were arrested for violating lockdown from different areas of Karachi during the last 16 hours.
He further said that 46 cases have been registered against the detainees in various police stations.
Earlier on Sunday, Sindh home department imposed a complete ban on public movement, social and religious gatherings across the province under Sindh Epidemic Diseases Act 2014.
In this regard, a notification was also issued which stated that the violation of the orders will be considered as an offense punishable under section 188 of the Pakistan Penal code.
The movement of people, gathering of any kind and any other purpose at any public or private place will remain banned for the next 15 days.
