All you need to know about Sindh Government Housing Schemes 2023

The Sindh government has recently launched housing schemes to provide relief to the flood-hit victims of the province and the general public who is battling with increasing inflation.

Among one of the most recently launched projects is the People’s Housing Initiative.

Under the first phase of this housing scheme in Larkana ownership rights of residential units to flood victims of Sindh were given among 5,000 families whose houses had been damaged during the last year’s unprecedented rains and flooding.

The ownership rights were given by FM and PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

This initiative is based on the instructions of Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. Under this plan, ownership rights of the land were granted to the women of the respective families, aiming to empower women in the region. Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari expressed his intention to extend this program to other provinces if the Pakistan People’s Party forms the next government.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is also supporting the Sindh government in the construction of houses for those affected by floods in the province.

Economy Housing Project for low-income families

Sindh Minister for Local Government and Housing & Town Planning, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah has recently launched Public Economy Housing Project under which 4,000 housing units will be provided to low-income households. Under the project one unit bungalows of 80, 100, 120 and 200 square foot would be constructed over an area of 250 acres in Scheme 45 Tesar Town under Malir Development Authority.

He said that the scheme was not less than a gift to the people of Karachi while the MDA would expand the scope of service to the public in coming days. Secretary MDA Muhammad Irfan briefing on this occasion informed that one unit bungalows of 80, 100, 120 and 200 sq ft would be developed for low income people.

Shah said that the construction work has already started on the site while work on basic utilities like water, electricity, gas and street lights along with wide roads was also continue on priority basis. 

Housing schemes for affectees of Karachi’s nullahs

The Sindh government is also constructing a low-housing scheme for the affectees of Karachi’s three big nullahs including Gujjar, Mahmoodabad and Orangi. 

The victims were displaced from their houses during anti-encroachment operation to clear the ways of the drain nullah amid rains,
