KARACHI: The Securities & Exchange Committee of Pakistan (SECP) has assured women entrepreneurs to conduct business and remove barriers to company registration.

On request of FPCCI Women Entrepreneur Committee, the SECP has also assured to consider setting up a one-window facility to assist women entrepreneurs. SECP Additional Registrar Syed Iftikhar-ul-Hassan Naqvi and Woman Registrar Fauzia Rashid discussed the difficulties faced by women entrepreneurs in company registration at a meeting of the Women Entrepreneur Standing Committee held at FPCCI.

They informed the participants that the duration of company registration is being minimized and within it can be registered within four hours while the procedure has also been simplified.

“If a company mimics a logo or uses someone else’s logo illegally, an urgent petition should be filed against it. Under which immediate action will be taken”, SECP officials informed the delegation of FPCCI and Women Chambers of Commerce International (WCCI).

Nazli Abid Nisar, former Vice President FPCCI and former Vice President Women Chambers of Commerce South urged SECP officials to provide business facilities for women entrepreneurs and facilitate company registration. She suggested setting up one window facility and separate desk.

She called for encouragement of women entrepreneurs and provision of business opportunities on equal basis, and said that laws should be enacted to provide business protection to women entrepreneurs. Women entrepreneurs must register their trademarks, logos and patents so that no one else can take advantage of them illegally, she added.

Ms Nisar also asked for the prevention of harassment of women in offices, cybercrime protection and giving them basic rights, and said that there should be no obstacles in their way of doing business. She also appreciated the assurance of the Additional Registrar SECP for company registration within four hours and also discussed how to ease doing business.

Hanif Lakhany, VP FPCCI, Nazli Abid Nisar, Convener Women Entrepreneur Standing Committee, former Vice President FPCCI, former Vice President Women Chambers of Commerce South, Lubna Aman, SVP WCCI, Sadia Khalid, VP WCCI, Mariam Faisal and Rubin’s Laeeq attended the meeting.
