ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) officials on Tuesday claimed to have arrested two Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) officers involved in a fake degrees scam.
According to FIA sources, the Corporate Crime Circle of FIA arrested two PIA officers, Muhammad Sher Iqbal and Muhammad Asif, in a fake degree scandal.
The FIA, among others, has also registered cases against Rashid Ahmed, former director HR, PIAC, Syed Fahad Ali and former Assistant Manager (Recruitment & Placement) PIAC.
Earlier, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has dismissed 49 employees from service on the charges of possessing fake degrees and disciplinary issues.
According to a notification issued by the national carrier, 25 were sacked for allegedly possessing fake or tempered degrees and documents, 21 over prolonged absence, one for disobedience and breach of applicable rules, and two for disclosure of official information on media or social media.
Furthermore, two other employees were demoted over breach of rules and one faced deduction of increments over his absence from the place of duty. All these violations had occurred during the month of June after which the penalties were imposed.
While PIA had awarded appreciation letters to its 11 employees in recognition of their dedication and commitment. The airline discipline is the foremost aspect of any organisation as it binds employees and motivates them to follow rules and regulations.
