KARACHI: Syed Asif Ali Shah, father of the female doctor Dr Maha Shah who allegedly committed suicide, has asserted that the escape of the suspects, allegedly involved in Dr Maha’s death, from the court premises in the presence of the police was raising many questions.
Talking to M.M News, Dr Maha’s father expressed frustration over the escape of the suspects from the court premises, saying, “I don’t see justice being done to my deceased daughter.”
He further informed that he, along with his family, has also moved out of the city. “The next hearing will take place on October 6, but we know that both the accused will not face the court,” he added.
Mentioning the Lahore motorway case, he said that the main accused in the Lahore motorway gang rape case was not yet arrested and the alleged ‘killers of her daughter are also free’. “This situation has raised questions on law enforcement agencies,” he added.
Police had initially said the 24-year-old doctor had allegedly committed suicide by shooting herself in her home in DHA on August 18.
Later, police booked her friends Junaid Khan, Waqas Hussain Rizvi and Dr Irfan Qureshi along with two others under relevant law sections including one pertaining to poisoning a person to death.
Earlier in September, Additional District and Sessions Judge (South) dismissed the bail applications moved by both the suspects and recalled the interim pre-arrest bail granted to both the suspects.
However, both the applicants, Junaid and Waqas, escaped from the courtroom after their bail applications were dismissed. In this regard, the complainant’s counsel Abbas Razvi said that suspect Waqas escaped first, but the investigating officer managed to get a hold of Junaid.
“However, unfortunately, some lawyers and other people in plain clothes helped Junaid escape as well from the IO’s custody,” the complainant’s counsel Abbas Razvi added.
