LAHORE: At least one person killed and six others injured today (Friday) when the roof of a private bank collapsed in Lahore’s Chobarji area.
According to details, rescue teams have reached the spot and relief operations are underway to evacuate the others stuck beneath the rubble.
The rescue officials have also rescued seven people from the debris of the private bank. The injured people shifted to the Services Hospital, Lahore. One of the injured died at the hospital while others are being provided medical treatment.
The bank staff has informed that almost 15 people were working in the bank when the roof suddenly collapsed over them. In this regard, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Lahore Ashfaq Khan has informed that the real facts will come to light after a thorough investigation of the case.
On the other side, intermittent torrential rain lashed parts of Punjab including Lahore today (Friday). At least eight people were killed when roofs of houses collapsed in Chakwal in two separate incidents.
Following the incidents, the rescue teams reached the spot and moved the bodies to hospitals after retrieving them from the debris.
