JEDDAH: The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) Human Rights Commission has strongly supported the United Nations’ (UN) experts’ call for urgent action to remedy the alarming human rights situation in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK).
In a series of tweets today, the OIC Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission endorsed the demands of the UN experts to investigate all cases of human rights violations, including extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances, torture and arbitrary detentions in Indian Occupied Kashmir.

Youm-e-Istehsal was observed on Wednesday to express solidarity with the oppressed Kashmiri people on completion of the one-year military siege of IOK.
On 5th August last year, the special constitutional status of Occupied Kashmir was scrapped by the Modi government and a debilitating communication blockade has been imposed ever since.
Prime Minister Imran Khan said Modi government’s revocation of the special status of Occupied Kashmir last year has turned the disputed region into an ‘open-air prison’ with its economy destroyed.
In an exclusive interview with a foreign media outlet, the prime minister said Modi was responsible for undermining his country’s legacy of secularism. “India fell under the control of an extremist ideology [propounded by] the RSS,” he said.
The prime minister said India Muslims are facing resembles what happened during the extermination of Jews in Nazi Germany. He said Pakistan has exhausted all possible routes to peacefully resolve its dispute with India.
