KARACHI: Karachi Transport Alliance (KTA) has warned to operate their vehicles in the city from May 5 if their demands were not met.
Karachi Transport Alliance (KTA) President, Irshad Bukhari said transport services will be resumed from May 5 and the responsibility for whatever law and order situation follows will lie with the provincial government.
He maintained that due to the lockdown, transporters and workers have been facing starvation. Bukhari believed the Sindh government was trying to gain international fame by putting Sindh under lockdown.
Earlier, a delegation of transporter met with the Sindh Transport Minister Awais Qadir Shah and Sindh Education and Labour minister Saeed Ghani and demanded they announce a relief package for transport and transport workers.
The delegation was led by its President Irshad Bokhari. They apprised the provincial minister about the problems and issues faced by them due to lockdown.
The delegation had demanded to formulate standard operation procedures (SOPs) for the transporters under which they could resume their business activities.
In this regard, Saeed Ghani said that the government was taking all the measures in order to ensure the safety of the people from the coronavirus.
While denying permission to transporters, he said, “We could not take any risk that could lead to the spread of the coronavirus.”
