NEW DELHI: The Indian Supreme Court on Wednesday issued a notice to the federal government on all petitions challenging the abolition of Article 370.
The five-member bench of the Indian Supreme Court has adjourned the next hearing till 29th October 2019.
According to the international media, 14 petitions were heard in the Supreme Court of India regarding the abolition of Article 370 of the Constitution of India regarding the special status of Indian occupied Kashmir.
According to Indian media, the Supreme Court has issued two notices to the Indian federal government.
A petition was also heard in the Indian Supreme Court regarding the restrictions imposed on the media in occupied Kashmir.
The petition filed by petitioner Arunada Bhasan stated that the occupied valley has been closed for the last 24 days and all sources of telecommunications are banned.
According to the media, Chief Justice of the Indian Supreme Court Ranjan Gogoi during his remarks in the hearing said, “We have issued a notice to the government that it should submit a response within the next seven days.”
On 5th August, India abolished Article 370 that granted special status to occupied Kashmir. The Modi government sent an unprecedented number of Indian troops to the occupied valley.
