Microsoft founder Bill Gates predicted in 2018 that a super-virus pandemic will breakout that could kill 33 million people in the first six months.
In December 2018, Bill Gates said that the world is not prepared for pandemics amid an increase in the population and environmental degradation.
Speaking at an event hosted by the Massachusetts Medical Society in 2018, the Microsoft Tycoon said, “He was an optimist but there was one area the world was not making much progress, and that’s pandemic preparedness.”
He said that it could be a synthetic smallpox virus or a super-flu that is far deadlier than normal strains.
He said, “”The world needs to prepare for pandemics in the same serious way it prepares for war.”
During the conference, He produced a scientific simulation by the Institute for Disease Modeling, which showed that it was possible that these deaths could occur in just six months.
Since the outbreak of the coronavirus, which has reportedly claimed the lives of at least 56 people, travel has been restricted in a number of heavily populated parts of China.
