Following last night’s revision in petroleum prices, details of the taxes imposed on petrol and diesel per litre have emerged.
According to sources from the Ministry of Energy, 32% of the price of one litre of petrol consists of taxes.
A total of Rs 129.72 in taxes is included in the price per litre, of which Rs 23.72 is charged as customs duty.
Sources further stated that the petrol price includes a levy of Rs 103.50 per litre, along with a Climate Support Levy of Rs 2.50.
For diesel, sources said that 21% of the price per litre consists of taxes. A total of Rs 82.81 per litre is attributed to taxes, including Rs 51.62 in customs duty.
According to the Ministry of Energy, diesel also includes a levy of Rs 28.69 per litre, along with a Climate Support Levy of Rs 2.50.
