Two players from Sri Lanka’s Under-19 cricket team have been arrested on allegations of secretly filming women during their stay at a hotel.
According to reports, the incident took place in the Narahenpita area of Colombo, where the Sri Lanka Under-19 team was staying.
Some women staying at the hotel filed complaints, claiming they were secretly recorded on mobile phones while bathing in bathroom areas.
Acting on the complaint, police arrested both players. However, they were later released on personal bail of 500,000 Sri Lankan rupees.
Police officials said investigations are also underway to determine whether the alleged videos were shared online.
The accused were produced before a court for an initial hearing, and the next hearing of the case has been scheduled for May 25.
Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Cricket Board has not yet announced any disciplinary action. However, the board has recently undergone major administrative changes, including the removal of former officials and the formation of a new transformation committee.
