Security forces and law enforcement agencies carried out a joint intelligence-based operation in Khyber district, killing 22 terrorists, while a 10-year-old child was martyred during an exchange of fire.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation was launched on intelligence reports in Khyber district, during which 22 terrorists were eliminated.
Officials said the slain terrorists were linked to the group referred to as Fitna al-Khawarij.
Security sources added that heavy firing was exchanged during the operation, in which the terrorists were effectively targeted.
During the operation, terrorists also opened indiscriminate fire, as a result of which a 10-year-old child was martyred.
Authorities further said that a large quantity of weapons and ammunition was recovered from the possession of the killed terrorists.
A clearance operation is ongoing in the area to eliminate any remaining threats.
The ISPR said that such sacrifices of innocent civilians further strengthen the resolve to completely eradicate the menace of terrorism.
