ISLAMABAD/RAWALPINDI: Confusion and chaos swept Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Saturday-Sunday night as authorities scrambled to enforce sweeping security measures ahead of the expected arrival of foreign dignitaries for the second round of Islamabad talks.

Heavy contingents of police from Punjab were deployed across the capital and Rawalpindi, with Murree Road sealed and public transport barred from Faizabad. Containers were suddenly placed in Shah Khalid Colony near Noor Khan Airbase, choking streets and trapping vehicles. Residents complained of being stranded without warning.

The most severe disruption was felt by students.
Hostels across Rawalpindi were ordered vacated at midnight, forcing many—particularly female students from remote areas—onto the streets in the rain. At Sixth Road Hostel, police sealed the premises with students still inside, barring them from leaving. At “Gilsey Boys Hostel” on Iran Road, students were evicted late at night and left wandering.
