KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) witnessed a robust rally on Tuesday, with the benchmark KSE-100 index climbing 3,903 points, or 2.37 per cent, to close at 164,494.65. The surge was underpinned by strong investor confidence, reflected in heavy trading volumes and a broad-based advance across sectors.
Market data showed 358 scrips advancing against 50 declining, while 157 remained unchanged. The KSE-30 index rose 2.50pc, the KMI-30 gained 2.41pc, and the banking sector index (BKTI) added 2.46pc, underscoring the breadth of the rally. Turnover stood at over 126 million shares, with a traded value exceeding Rs6.3 billion across 62,730 transactions.
Analysts attributed the bullish sentiment to a combination of domestic resilience and a relatively stable global backdrop.
Internationally, the ceasefire between US and Iranian-backed forces continues to hold, easing geopolitical anxieties. Diplomatic sources indicated that Washington and Tehran may resume formal ceasefire talks on Thursday, a development seen as reinforcing hopes of sustained calm in the Middle East.
With global markets appearing steady and regional tensions momentarily subdued, investors at the PSX capitalised on the positive environment, driving indices higher. Market watchers noted that the rally was not confined to a single sector, suggesting broad confidence in the economic outlook.
