US President Donald Trump has claimed that Iran reached out to the United States following talks held in Pakistan, expressing a strong desire to finalise an agreement.
Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump said Iran had sent a message indicating it was “eager” to secure a deal. He added that while agreement had been reached on several issues and the US delegation held productive discussions, differences remained over uranium enrichment.
Trump reiterated that Iran would not be allowed to possess nuclear weapons, warning that the United States would not permit any form of “blackmail”. He also stressed the global importance of the Strait of Hormuz.
He further stated that a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz had begun, noting that multiple cargo and oil tankers had already passed through the waterway, including shipments heading to the United States.
According to Trump, several countries had offered to assist in the blockade, although he maintained that such support was not necessary.
