The All Pakistan Petrol Pump Owners Association has warned that thousands of petrol pumps across the country may be shut down if their concerns are not addressed.
In a statement issued by the association, it said that a letter has been sent to the Petroleum Minister, Ali Pervaiz Malik, requesting an urgent meeting. It added that a previous letter sent on 6 March had received no response.
The letter stated that the petroleum sector is facing operational and financial challenges, along with pricing issues and sudden policy changes.
The association urged the government to include industry stakeholders in the policymaking process, noting that the issues faced by 14,000 to 15,000 petrol pump owners across the country require immediate attention.
The association further warned that if their demands are not met, they will be compelled to shut down petrol pumps nationwide. It cautioned that such a move could lead to a severe fuel crisis in Pakistan, holding the Ministry of Petroleum responsible for any resulting disruption.
