A cybersecurity alert has been issued for iPhone users in Pakistan, with the National Computer Emergency Response Team (National CERT) urging users to take precautionary measures in light of increasing cyber threats.
According to National CERT, iPhone users are strongly advised to keep their devices updated at all times and avoid using outdated iOS versions. The advisory also warns against opening suspicious or unknown links.
Users have been cautioned against installing unverified VPNs or connecting to unsecured Wi-Fi networks. They are also advised not to ignore account-related security alerts and to regularly restart their devices as a precaution.
The alert comes amid rising cyber risks linked to ongoing regional tensions. National CERT warned that government, defence and financial institutions could be potential targets.
The advisory highlighted threats such as deepfake campaigns, spear-phishing attacks and distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks.
It also warned that official social media accounts could be compromised, while banking and financial systems may face ransomware attacks.
Government employees and the general public have been advised to exercise caution when التعامل with suspicious links, emails and mobile applications. The importance of multi-factor authentication (MFA) and timely system updates was emphasised, along with a warning against downloading unverified applications.
The alert further pointed to the risk of psychological operations involving deepfakes and fabricated content, urging users to remain vigilant.
