Russia’s ambassador to Pakistan, Albert P. Khorev, has said that Moscow is willing to supply discounted oil to Pakistan if it formally approaches.
Khorev stated that, to his knowledge, Pakistan has not yet approached Russia regarding oil purchases, adding that discounted oil would be offered if contact is made. He noted that the energy sector remains a key pillar of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
The ambassador further said Russia has maintained military and technical cooperation with Iran for decades. He added that Iran’s response was directed at US military installations in the Gulf region, but declined to comment further on Iran’s actions or the broader situation in the Middle East, describing it as uncertain.
Commenting on the situation, Khorev said the world has been surprised by the military actions of Donald Trump, adding that it is difficult to predict how and when the current tensions will end due to the complexity of the situation.
He also condemned an attack on a school in Iran, describing the reported killing of 170 children as unacceptable. He urged all parties to avoid the use of force and to resolve issues through political and diplomatic means in line with the United Nations Charter.
