The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has declared a bank holiday on Monday, March 23, 2026, in observance of Pakistan Day.
In an official statement on Monday, the central bank said, “The State Bank of Pakistan will remain closed on March 23, 2026 (Monday) being a public holiday on the occasion of ‘Pakistan Day’ as declared by the Government of Pakistan.”
Pakistan Day, celebrated annually on March 23, marks the adoption of the Lahore Resolution in 1947, which called for the establishment of an independent state for Muslims in the subcontinent. The historic resolution was passed at Minar-e-Pakistan, Lahore, a landmark that symbolizes the creation of Pakistan.

With the March 23 holiday, bank employees will benefit from a four-day long break. The government has already announced Eid ul Fitr holidays on Friday, March 20, and Saturday, March 21, while March 22 falls on Sunday, followed by the March 23 Pakistan Day observance.
This extended holiday period allows citizens and employees to celebrate both national and religious occasions.
