The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a weather forecast for the period around Eid al-Fitr, predicting cloudy conditions in the country’s northern areas during the Eid holidays.
According to the report, a new westerly weather system is likely to enter the country on the evening or night of 17 March. From 18 to 20 March, rain accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds is expected in many parts of the country.
The department said several districts in Balochistan may experience rainfall between 17 and 20 March, with the possibility of hailstorms in some areas. Rain is also forecast for the upper regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with snowfall expected in mountainous areas.
The report added that intermittent rain is likely in Punjab and Islamabad from the night of 17 March until 20 March. Strong winds and hailstorms may also occur in Murree, Galiyat, Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
According to the meteorological department, several cities in Sindh are expected to receive rain and thunderstorms on 18 and 19 March. Rain is also forecast in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir, with snowfall likely in mountainous areas.
