LPG prices in Pakistan have surged by Rs70 to Rs100 per kilogram following a major hike in petroleum prices, putting additional strain on household energy costs.
Ali Haider, a leader of the Marketing Association, said that the retail price of LPG has risen from Rs250 per kg to between Rs320 and Rs350 per kg.
The Marketing Association highlighted that since the outbreak of the Iran war, LPG supply has been limited, leading to a consistent trend of rising prices.
The association has urged the government to arrange LPG imports from Russia or Oman to stabilize supply and prices.
Last Friday the government announced an increase of Rs55 per liter in petrol and diesel prices, reflecting rising international oil costs. Following the hike, petrol prices reached Rs321.17 per liter, effective from midnight, while diesel prices soared to Rs335.86 per liter.
