Dairy farmers in Karachi have called for an increase in milk prices, requesting that the per-liter rate be fixed at Rs320.
As per details, the Dairy Farmers Association has formally written a letter to the Karachi Commissioner.
In the letter, the association said that selling milk at the current price is causing severe financial losses for farmers. According to the association, farmers are currently bearing a loss of nearly Rs70 per liter, which has now become unsustainable.
The association also highlighted that rising costs of animal feed, transportation, and other expenses have made it difficult to run the milk business at the existing rates. Therefore, they have urged the government to increase the milk price in Karachi to Rs320 per liter.
On Friday, Pakistan witnessed a noticeable surge in inflation following a sharp increase in petroleum prices. The rise in fuel costs is expected to push up transportation and commodity prices, putting additional pressure on households and businesses across the country.
