The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) continued to face selling pressure as the benchmark KSE-100 Index dropped over 1,600 points on Wednesday.
At close, the benchmark index settled at 164,626.29, a loss of 1632.25 points or 0.98%.
Selling pressure was evident across major sectors, including automobile assemblers, cement, commercial banks, fertilizer, oil and gas exploration firms, oil marketing companies (OMCs), power generation, and refineries.
On Tuesday, the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) extended its corrective trend, with both benchmark and sectoral indices ending in negative territory amid a volatile trading session characterized by sharp intraday fluctuations, heavy volumes, and a continued decline in overall market capitalization.
The benchmark KSE-100 Index closed at 166,258.55 points, shedding 1,432.54 points, or 0.85%.
Meanwhile, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb emphasized the importance of enhanced federal oversight and improved coordination with provincial governments to ensure the effective execution of structural reforms.
His remarks came as the World Bank reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Pakistan’s reform agenda under the Country Partnership Framework (CPF).
