Five policemen including a deputy superintendent of police (DSP) were killed when terrorists opened fire on a police van in Kohat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday.
Police said terrorists ambushed a police mobile van in the remote Shakardara Road area, opening fire and killing three officers on the spot, including Deputy Superintendent Asad Mehmood.
Another policeman who sustained critical injuries later succumbed to his wounds, raising the death toll to four, while three injured officers remain under medical treatment.
Authorities added that the assailants also torched the police vehicle after the attack.
Earlier on Monday, at least three Federal Constabulary (FC) personnel were martyred when an ambulance transporting injured officers was targeted in the Badrakhail area of Karak, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Meanwhile, security forces killed four Indian proxy militants, identified as Fitna al-Khawarij, during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Dera Ismail Khan, KP. In another operation in Balochistan’s Pishin district, five more militants were killed in a separate raid.
