A lady doctor was shot dead by unidentified armed men in the KDA Double Road area of Kohat on Sunday, police confirmed.
According to police officials, the incident occurred when Dr Mehwish was returning home in a rickshaw after completing her duty. Armed assailants opened fire on the vehicle, killing her on the spot before fleeing the scene.
Police said an investigation has been launched, and efforts are underway to trace and arrest the suspects. CCTV footage from the area is being examined, and statements from witnesses are being recorded to help identify those involved. A case has been registered against unknown persons at KDA Police Station. No arrests have been made so far.
The killing sparked widespread protests by the medical community. Speaking to the media, the President of the Young Doctors Association (YDA) announced that protests and a complete strike would continue until the perpetrators are apprehended.
He urged the government and law enforcement agencies to ensure the immediate arrest and strict punishment of those responsible.
Dr Rashid Bukhari, President of the Paramedics Association, also demanded the swift arrest of the attackers and declared that the strike would persist until justice is served.
