What was meant to be a family celebration ended in tragedy when a violent crash on the Karachi-Hyderabad Motorway killed 13 relatives, all from the same household and part of the Mehsud tribe, on Friday.
The victims were on their way back to Kotri after going to a wedding in Karachi’s Shah Latif Town when their vehicle collided with an oil tanker near Gadap Kathore.
The crash wiped out the whole family and left the local community heartbroken.
According to police, the incident took place on Gadap Link Road, when a truck collided with a coach. Initial reports indicate that the coach was traveling in the wrong direction at the time of the crash.
Grieving relatives of the deceased told the media that the victims were residents of Kotri. They traveled to Karachi’s Shah Latif Town to attend a wedding ceremony. The horrific accident happened as they were returning home after the festivities.
Immediately after the crash, police and rescue teams arrived at the scene.
After completing the necessary legal and medical formalities, the bodies were shifted and later dispatched to Hyderabad and Kotri, where the final funeral rites and burials will take place.
