Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has suggested that former Prime Minister and PTI founder Imran Khan could be transferred from Adiala Jail to Islamabad Jail if he is sentenced by a court in Islamabad.
Speaking to the media in Islamabad on Friday, Naqvi said that Islamabad Jail would be fully operational within two months, after which Imran Khan would be moved there. He added that the jail is equipped with all necessary medical facilities.
When asked whether Imran Khan would indeed be transferred, the minister reiterated that since the verdict would come from an Islamabad court, the former PTI chairman would be sent to Islamabad Jail.
Regarding the arrest of private channel journalist Khurram Ansari, Naqvi said he would personally oversee the matter.
Separately, during a passing-out ceremony of Islamabad Police officers, the Interior Minister said it was a significant day for the federal police.
He said that a dedicated counter-terrorism force did not exist previously, but a six-month training course was completed in just three months through intensive efforts. He credited the officers involved in the training.
