Karachi: Six months after the submission of the charge sheet in the Mustafa Amir murder case, no formal charges have yet been framed against the accused.
Mustafa Amir’s mother has approached the Sindh High Court seeking action against the delay.
The court has approved the transfer of the case and instructed that a new case number be allotted.
The case had been pending after the death of the judge of Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) 16. Following the transfer to ATC-6, the Sindh government restructured the courts, converting ATC-6 into an Anti-Narcotics Court, causing further delays.
Lawyers argue that this prolonged delay violates the principles of justice. The accused, Armaghan and Shiraz, remain in jail.
It should be recalled that DIG CIA Muqaddas Haider, while addressing a press conference on February 14, had stated that the deceased Mustafa Amir went missing from the Defence area on January 6. The victim’s mother had registered a case of his disappearance the next day.
