The Bhatti Gate tragedy has taken a new turn after post-mortem reports revealed disturbing details about the deaths of a woman and her infant daughter, who fell into an open sewage line.
According to the reports, both victims sustained serious head injuries.
The woman, identified as Saadia, suffered a fracture to her right shoulder, while her nine-month-old daughter, Rida Fatima, was found to have a broken neck bone.
Medical findings also showed multiple injury marks on Saadia’s back. Investigators believe she jumped into the sewage line in an attempt to save her child. The cause of death for both has been attributed to fractures to the head and neck.
Sources said the post-mortems were conducted by a female doctor and the reports have currently been sealed.
Officials believe the incident was the result of negligence on the part of police personnel and the local administration. Action is said to be underway against those found responsible.
