India posted a total of 252 runs in 49.5 overs against arch-rivals Pakistan in the Under-19 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, setting a challenging target of 253 for the Green Shirts in their Super Sixes clash at Bulawayo.
Pakistan captain Farhan Yousuf won the toss and opted to field first, putting India in to bat. The Indian innings was anchored by an opening partnership between Arun George and Abhinav Suryavanshi, who gave India a solid start of 47 runs.
However, momentum swung in Pakistan’s favor when Siam dismissed Suryavanshi and Indian captain Mahatre in the same over. Soon after, Arun George was clean bowled by Abdul Subhan, leaving India reeling at 47 for three. The fourth wicket fell to Vihan Malhotra, who scored 41 runs before being caught off Ahmed Hussain’s delivery.
With six points from their previous matches, India needs just a win to secure a spot in the semifinals. Pakistan, with four points, face a more difficult task. Their current run rate of 1.484 is well below India’s 3.337, meaning the Green Shirts will need a significant victory margin to progress.
