Pakistan’s Foreign Office (FO) officially announced that it has accepted United States President Donald Trump’s invitation to join his newly formed Board of Peace (BoP).
Pakistan’s participation is intended to support the implementation of the Gaza Peace Plan under the framework of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803.
The FO stated that Islamabad seeks to achieve a permanent ceasefire, a significant scale-up of humanitarian assistance for Palestinians, and the reconstruction of Gaza.
Pakistan reaffirmed its commitment to a two-state solution based on pre-1967 borders with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as the capital of an independent Palestinian state.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was personally invited by President Trump, and reports indicate he was the only leader invited to address the assembly at the conclusion of the related Gaza Peace Summit.
Context of the “Board of Peace”
The Board of Peace is a central component of Phase Two of President Trump’s 20-point plan for Gaza, which he unveiled in late 2025.
The board, chaired by Trump, is designed to oversee a transitional technocratic Palestinian administration (the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza) and a regional peacekeeping force.
While initially focused on Gaza, the board’s charter suggests a wider role in brokering global conflicts, with some analysts noting it could function as a more nimble alternative to the United Nations.
Member States
Other nations that have reportedly accepted invitations or expressed interest include the UAE, Jordan, Morocco, Argentina, and Hungary. Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also accepted his invitation on Wednesday
