An audio message sent from inside Gul Plaza on MA Jinnah Road in Karachi has surfaced, capturing the distress of a man trapped during the deadly blaze, as he says the intense fire has left him struggling to find a way out.
Meanwhile, according to Rescue 1122 officials, teams were able to enter the charred building to begin searching for survivors and bodies, even as the cooling process continued.
Police said that families of 59 missing individuals have contacted authorities and shared mobile numbers, adding that the locations of 26 people have been traced inside the building, while families of those trapped stand outside the building in a state of anxiety and helplessness.
The audio message sent by the trapped individual has been received by Aaj News following the fire at Gul Plaza. In the recording, the man says: “Assalam-o-Alaikum, I am trapped in Gul Plaza from all sides. There is a very dangerous fire, and it has become extremely difficult for me to get out. If I have made any mistake or negligence, please forgive me.”
Voices of other trapped individuals can also be heard in the audio. At one point, another person can be heard calling out “Ya Allah” and urging others to break down a door, to which the first man responds that there is fire outside.
