PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Wednesday said that certain forces are attempting to deprive Sindh of its rightful powers, but the development of areas like Tharparkar stands as a clear response to such claims.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the new campus of NED University’s Thar Institute of Technology in Mithi, Bilawal said Sindh, especially Tharparkar, is often criticised with the claim that the Pakistan Peoples Party has done nothing for the province.
He added that such criticism is aimed at shifting powers to Islamabad, but the progress seen in Tharparkar proves these claims wrong.
Bilawal said the PPP government is working across Sindh with a people-friendly approach and has shown through its actions that it cares deeply for the people of Tharparkar.
He stressed that the development of Tharparkar is essential for the overall development of Sindh and remains a top priority for his party.
Referring to the Thar coal project, Bilawal said the region holds vast coal reserves that belong to the local people. He compared Thar’s coal wealth to Saudi Arabia’s oil and said for many years the people were not allowed to benefit from their own resources.
He added that the project has brought economic change and has even contributed electricity to other parts of the country, including Islamabad.
