The spy thriller Dhurandhar, directed by Aditya Dhar, has crossed a major milestone in Bollywood history. It has become the first Hindi film to record a net box office collection of over ₹800 billion in India, while its global gross has surpassed ₹1,186 billion.
Released on 5 December 2025, the film achieved a net collection of ₹806.80 billion in India within just 30 days. Weekly box office figures show earnings of ₹218 billion in the first week, ₹261.5 billion in the second, ₹188.3 billion in the third, and ₹115.7 billion in the fourth week.
With this exceptional performance, Dhurandhar has overtaken previous blockbusters such as Jawan and Chhaava to become the highest-grossing Hindi film of all time.
Ranveer Singh plays the lead role, alongside a strong ensemble cast including Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Rakesh Bedi, Sara Arjun and Danish Pandor.
The film is the first instalment of a two-part series and follows the story of an Indian intelligence officer navigating the worlds of crime and politics in Karachi. The narrative incorporates references to real-life events, including the IC-814 aircraft hijacking, the Parliament attack and the Mumbai attacks.
Renowned filmmaker Anurag Kashyap described the film as outstanding, praising Aditya Dhar’s direction and Ranveer Singh’s performance in particular.
He also commended the film’s confident and resolute vision. South Indian superstar Suriya termed the film a “masterpiece” and highlighted the performances of Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna and R. Madhavan.
The overwhelming response from both the film industry and audiences has cemented Dhurandhar as one of Bollywood’s most memorable successes, with fans now eagerly awaiting the sequel.
