Aerial firing during New Year’s Eve celebrations was reported in multiple areas of Karachi, injuring at least 25 people and prompting police to take action against those involved in the celebratory gunfire.
According to police, those injured include girls and women. 56 people involved in aerial firing were arrested during operations carried out in different areas.
Rescue sources said that citizens were injured due to firing incidents in various localities, including Korangi, Golimar, Five Star, and the New Sabzi Mandi.
Meanwhile, in Hyderabad, four people were injured due to aerial firing during New Year celebrations, while two people were injured in Nawabshah.
It is worth noting that on the occasion of the New Year, the Sindh Home Department had issued a notification banning the display of weapons and aerial firing in Karachi.
Police had also decided to deploy drone cameras to identify those involved in aerial firing.
