Renowned veteran actor Nauman Ijaz, a powerhouse of the Pakistani showbiz industry, has stirred a conversation regarding acting priorities, stating that he believes in the strength of character over physical appearance.
In a recent candid interview, the actor revealed that he has never felt the need to use makeup to enhance his screen presence.

Speaking to a journalist about his craft and career, Ijaz emphasized that his primary focus is “selling” the character he portrays rather than highlighting his own beauty.
“I have never used makeup on screen in my entire life,” the actor claimed. He shared a lighthearted anecdote from the set, noting that when makeup artists repeatedly approach him for touch-ups, he often responds with humor.
“When the makeup artist keeps coming to me on set, I ask him, ‘What happened? Am I Faysal Quraishi or Humayun Saeed that I need makeup?'”
A Friendly Jab
While the veteran actor made the comparison to his peers, Humayun Saeed and Faysal Quraishi, in a joking and lighthearted manner, his underlying message was serious. He stressed that an actor’s impact should come from their performance and the depth of their role rather than aesthetic enhancements.
Nauman Ijaz’s remarks have sparked a debate among fans about the evolving standards of grooming in the industry versus the traditional “method acting” approach, where the raw, natural look is often preferred for realism.
