If you are traveling in Karachi today, Friday, December 19, 2025, please be advised of potential traffic disruptions. Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has announced protest sit-ins at 13 key locations across the city starting from 4:00 PM.
The protests are directed against the rise in heavy vehicle accidents (dumpers and tankers), the “e-challan” system, and the city’s deteriorating infrastructure.
Protest Locations
JI has identified the following major thoroughfares and intersections for their sit-ins.
- Shahrah-e-Faisal: Near Star Gate (Expected to affect Airport traffic)
- M.A. Jinnah Road: Near Tibet Centre
- University Road: Near Mosmiyat
- Hub River Road
- Central & North Karachi:
- Power House Chowrangi (North Karachi)
- Dolmen Mall Hyderi (North Nazimabad)
- Liaquatabad No. 10
- Sohrab Goth
- East & West Karachi:
- Dawood Chowrangi (Landhi/Korangi)
- Korangi Crossing
- Noorani Kabab House Chowrangi (PECHS)
- Paracha Chowk (Shershah)
- Orangi Town No. 5
Advisory
These locations include some of Karachi’s busiest bottlenecks. Expect significant delays starting late afternoon.
If you have a flight, use alternative routes such as Malir Cantt or Pehelwan Goth to reach the airport, as Shahrah-e-Faisal near Star Gate is often a primary protest point.
Monitor local traffic police radio or digital maps for real-time diversions.
