Ali Tareen, the owner of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Multan Sultans, has announced his decision to part ways with the team.
Tareen made the announcement through a post on social media.
In a message on X, he wrote that being part of the franchise had been one of the greatest honors of his life. “I love the fans, I love this team, and I am immensely proud to have represented South Punjab,” he said.
Tareen added that every season he would remind his players and staff what it meant to represent a region known for its hardworking people.

He said that despite incurring financial losses year after year, he never considered stepping away from the franchise.
“I know I am not everyone’s favorite, and I am well aware of that. But I have always been honest and always expressed my views openly. And if staying here means compromising on principles, then I have only one choice: I would rather stand tall and walk away than run this team on my knees,” he stated.
Concluding his message, Ali Tareen said: “So this is the end. Please know that this team has always been more than just an owner. It belongs to you and to South Punjab. So whoever leads the Sultans next, please support them with the same passion.”
