A speeding car stuck two women riding a scooter, causing them to fall off a bridge near Dumba Goth on the Super Highway Karachi.
One of the women, identified as Samra, died on the spot, while her cousin Rabia sustained serious injuries.
Both victims were employed as teachers at a coaching center in Bahadurabad. Rabia was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medical treatment.
Police arrived promptly at the scene, arrested the car driver, and impounded the vehicle. Authorities confirmed that the driver, who owns a construction business, held a valid driving license.
In a separate incident near the Punjab Bus Stop on the same highway, a speeding water tanker ran over two motorcyclists.
One man was killed, and the other was injured. While police secured the tanker, the driver managed to flee.
According to data from the Chhipa Foundation, over 750 people have lost their lives in traffic accidents across Karachi so far this year, underscoring the city’s escalating road safety crisis.
