The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) continued its bullish trend, gaining over 1,200 points on Friday.
At close, the benchmark index settled at 161,935.19, an increase of 1277.70 points or 0.8%.
Strong buying activity emerged across several major sectors, including auto assemblers, commercial banks, fertilizer producers, oil and gas exploration firms, OMCs, power companies, and refineries.
Heavyweight counters such as OGDC, POL, PPL, PSO, WAFI, HBL, and MCB all traded in positive territory.
On Thursday, the Pakistan Stock Exchange extended its upward momentum, with the benchmark index finishing significantly higher as investors grew more confident amid renewed optimism driven by merger and acquisition developments in the cement sector.
Meanwhile, the Pakistani rupee continued its modest upward trend against the US dollar. In Friday’s inter-bank session, the currency appreciated by 0.01%, closing at 280.72, an increase of four paisas.
