In Lahore, a family attacked an anti-polio team, injuring a female worker whose head was split open. Police have registered a case and initiated legal action.
According to police officials, the polio team had gone to the Kot Lakhpat area of Lahore for the campaign, where a family refused to have their children vaccinated.
Police stated that when the anti-polio worker tried to convince them, a woman and her two daughters attacked her. During the incident, the female worker’s head was injured by a brick, and the team’s scooter was also damaged.
According to police, a case has been registered on the complaint of the anti-polio team in-charge. The nominated woman and her two sons are absconding, and a search is underway to find them.
It is worth noting that this incident reflects public resentment against the ongoing anti-polio campaign in the country, even though polio drops are administered to protect children from lifelong disability.
